Land Tax Amendment Act 2025

What this bill does

This bill reduces the base land tax rate in Bermuda by half, from $300 to $150. It also fixes a technical error in the current law that references the wrong column in a tax schedule.

If passed (voted YES)

• Property owners will pay 50% less in base land tax starting January 1, 2026
• The government will collect less revenue from land taxes, which could mean less money for public services
• A technical error in the tax law will be corrected to reference the proper tax rate column

If rejected (voted NO)

• Land tax rates will remain at the current $300 base rate
• Property owners will continue paying the existing higher tax amounts
• The technical error in the law referencing the wrong column will remain uncorrected
