Land Valuation and Tax Amendment Act 2025
Simplified for You
What this bill does
This bill updates Bermuda's 1967 Land Valuation and Tax Act to bring it into the digital age. The main changes remove requirements for paper copies of property valuation lists to be stored at post offices, and instead make these lists available online at www.landvaluation.bm.
If passed (voted YES)
- Property owners can check draft and final valuation lists online instead of having to visit post offices around the island
- People can send documents to the Land Valuation Department by email rather than only by mail or in person
- The government saves money by not printing and distributing paper copies to every post office
If rejected (voted NO)
- Property valuation lists will continue to be printed and stored at post offices as they have been since 1967
- Property owners must visit post offices or the Land Valuation office in person to review valuation lists
- All official documents must continue to be submitted by mail or delivered in person
Who it affects
This primarily affects property owners who want to review their property valuations during the upcoming quinquennial (five-yearly) revaluation process. It also affects anyone who needs to submit documents or appeals to the Land Valuation Department.
