Motor Car (Driver’s Licence Renewal) Amendment Act

What this bill does

This bill changes the rules for renewing driver's licenses in Bermuda. It requires all drivers to get a medical fitness certificate every 10 years when renewing their license, and raises the age when older drivers must take a new driving test from 65 to 70 years old.

If passed (voted YES)

• All drivers will need to submit a doctor's certificate proving they're physically fit to drive every time they renew their license (every 10 years)
• Drivers won't have to take a new driving test until age 70 instead of age 65
• License renewals will happen every 10 years until age 70, instead of the current system that changed at age 65

If rejected (voted NO)

• Drivers will continue renewing licenses without needing medical certificates every 10 years
• The current rule requiring new driving tests at age 65 will remain unchanged
• The existing license renewal schedule will stay as it is now
