What this bill does
This bill delays Bermuda's next municipal election from 2025 to 2026. It changes the law to make it clear that no municipal election will happen in 2025.
If passed (voted YES)
- Municipal elections will be postponed until 2026
- Current municipal councillors will stay in their positions for an extra year
- No voting for municipal representatives will take place in 2025
If rejected (voted NO)
- Municipal elections would proceed as originally scheduled in 2025
- Citizens would vote for their municipal councillors this year
- Current councillors' terms would end as previously planned
Who it affects
This affects all Bermuda residents who live in municipalities and would have voted for their local councillors. It also affects current municipal councillors whose terms will be extended if the bill passes.
