I am pretty sure
most of us are aware that our Pan Am team partic ipated in the Junior Pan Am Games in Colombia. We
certainly want to send congratulations to our junior
athletes who represented their country extremely well.
And special congratulations to Kaden Hopkins, who
picked up a silver medal in the cycling time trial.
Other than that, Madam President, two very
special belated birthdays. There is Kingsley Simmons
from Fo othills , Loyal Hill, who celebrated his 97th
birthday. I enjoy canvassing in the Foothills/Loyal Hill area, and I certainly want to wish [Mr. Simmons] a
wonderful, belated happy birthday.
As well as the most special person in my life,
my mom. She cel ebrated her birthday on the 4
th of
December. And I just want to send congratulations to
her. She listens to the broadcast from another place
every Friday , and she especially tunes in to our Se nate sessions. So Happy belated birthday!

Before moving on, I would like to associate
myself with the condolences that were expressed for
Sylvan Richards , [Sr.] . I thank Senator Owen Darrell
for his comments.
I would also like for the Senate to express
condolences to the Ric hard Canterbury Simmons fa mily. [Mr. Simmons] was the brother of former Member
of Parliament, Lionel Simmons, and he is the uncle of
Jamahl Simmons, MP. He was brother to Leon Si mmons, Dianne Simmons, Dr. Leroy Simmons and the
late Dr. Henry Simmons. Richard attended Howard
Academy and Pickering College in Canada. He later went on to study dental technology at the Purple
School of Dental Technology in New York. And he
returned to Bermuda 58 years ago to open Simmons
Dental A Business. He ran this until his retirement with
his brother Lionel.
He was an elder in the Radnor Road Christian
Fellowship Church and was involved with the church
from its inception. He leaves his wife, Gloria, and a daughter, Kimberley Lawrence. So, the Senate extends condolences to t he entire Simmons family.
