Jarion Richrdson, JP, MP

Biography

Mr. Richardson is a Paget resident, raised in Somerset and whose family history is based in St. David’s and St. George’s. He attended Southampton Glebe School, packed groceries at Marketplace in Somerset and was a member of TS Venture, the Dockyard unit of the Bermuda Sea Cadet Corps. Inspired by travelling with the Corps, he eventually graduated from the Massanutten Military Academy in Virginia. Having completed mandatory military service in the then-Bermuda Regiment, he volunteered for additional service years and was attached to British Forces, ending his service as a Corporal. Simultaneously, he completed a training contract at the Royal Gazette newspaper. He then joined the Bermuda Police Service. His service includes working in communities as a beat officer, working with charities and businesses to identify and resolve problems with solutions such as changes to pre-existing infrastructure, resolving family disputes and building networks within the community. He completed police service in the Intelligence Division as a Detective Constable. He worked in the international law firm Appleby and Bermuda Monetary Authority. At the Authority, he established methodologies to determine a financial institution’s compliance with local regulatory obligations. He was the lead developer and instructor of the anti-money laundering technical specialist course for supervisory staff. He then started Certainty, a regulatory compliance services firm, and is the Managing Principal. He served on the Board of Directors for the Bermuda Sloop Foundation, on the House Committee for the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and as a volunteer for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bermuda. He was the President of his church’s council, Peace Lutheran Church, in Paget.
