With respect to the recently announced procurement of one- and two-bedroom
capsule units and expandable container home units, will the Honourable Minister
please advise the Honourable House of:
The identity and address of the vendor of each unit: Henan Sinova Construction Co, Ltd:
Huiji District, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China.
i. Purchase cost per unit
• One-bedroom capsule - $24,980.00
• Two-bedroom capsule - $25,850.00
• Two-bedroom container home - $7,850.00
• Three-bedroom container home - $8,150.00
ii. shipping and freight costs to Bermuda
• $9,000.00 est. per unit due to variable size of units and shipping times
iii. other costs directly related to procurement of the said units, including any
travel costs of the Minister and/or public servants incurred in visiting the
vendor’s manufacturing and/or sales site?
• No travel costs incurred by the Minister or any public servants.
• A technical officer from the Bermuda Housing Corporation undertook
site visits to view the capsules in situ while on leave and provided a
verbal assessment.
