Will the Honourable Minister please provide the Honourable House with the number of
public-school students in each of the past three academic years who have been referred
for educational, behavioural, psychological, or therapeutic services that are not
available locally; and please outline the full process for identifying these students and
determining when overseas services are required?

Response
The referral of students overseas for services not available locally, is governed by the
Psycho-Educational Committee, a multi-disciplinary team, not the Department of
Education (DOE). The DOE’s role is to participate on the Committee, share
recommendations, and provide support; it does not make decisions regarding overseas
referrals.
