What this bill does
This bill changes the rules for cruise ship casinos when they're docked in Bermuda. It extends how long casino licenses are valid from just the cruise season (April to November) to a full 12 months, and allows cruise ships to request longer casino operating hours beyond the current 9 PM to 5 AM window.
If Passed (Voted Yes)
Cruise ships that visit Bermuda 15+ times per year can get casino licenses that last 12 months instead of just during cruise season
Cruise ship casinos could operate for more hours each day if they request permission from the Bermuda Gaming Commission
Casino licenses would be renewed for 12-month periods rather than seasonal periods
If Rejected (Voted No)
Cruise ship casino licenses would continue to only be valid during cruise season (April 1 to November 30)
Casino operating hours would remain fixed at 9 PM to 5 AM when ships are docked in Bermuda
The current seasonal licensing system would stay in place
Who It Affects
This primarily affects cruise ship operators and their passengers who use onboard casinos while docked in Bermuda. It also impacts the Bermuda Gaming Commission, which would handle the extended licensing periods and additional operating hour requests.
Vote counts are not published.
The Bermuda Parliament does not publicly record individual vote counts or how each member voted.
